Lion King Kids

Lawrence Middle School Drama Club Proudly Presents The Lion King Kids

LAWRENCE, NEW YORK (MARCH, 2022)—Lawrence Middle School Drama Club students recently performed two shows of The Lion King Kids, based on the 1994 American Disney animated musical film and the Broadway musical. The Lion King Kids is a phenomenal musical experience for young performers, as it includes the same storyline and songs but condensed into a shorter story.

“I am incredibly proud of our Drama Club students. Our performers worked extremely hard to create a memorable experience for their audiences, and based on the reaction of those audiences, they more than met their goal,” said Mr. Willis Perry, Principal of Lawrence Middle School. “I would also like to thank the Lawrence High School crew members who contributed their time and talent in helping to make sure the shows were a huge success.”

The exhilarating performances were made up of 10 scenes that were the most memorable in the movie and Broadway musical. The Drama Club members sang and danced to popular songs such as Hakuna Matata, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Circle of Life and Just Can’t Wait to be King. The audience was able to enjoy the young thespians putting on a performance that included legendary quotes from The Lion King and enjoy the story unfolding with lifelong lessons about life, death, betrayal, friendship, and love.

“I am always amazed at our students' dedication and talents in Lawrence Schools. Students had an amazing experience learning about choreography and the choral components that went with the show,” said Pamela Gallopini, Drama Club Director. “A round of applause goes out to Susan Rogan, our Music Director, Inga Gerson, Choreographer, Rob Vernone, Technical Director, and Brian Stabile who played the piano. It was truly an all-hands-on-deck effort!”
