Lawrence Elementary School Hosts Ugly Sweater Contest

LAWRENCE, NEW YORK (DECEMBER 2021)—Lawrence Elementary School recently held an ugly sweater contest, where students came to school wearing their wackiest, most festive holiday sweaters. Students as well as staff members won prizes for their ugliest sweaters! Student council members served as the judges.

“It was so much fun seeing the crazy and creative sweaters each student came to school wearing,” said Rina Beach, principal of Lawrence Elementary School. “It was a community-building event that brought so much joy and camaraderie to our school before our well-deserved holiday break.”

The contest was held first thing in the morning on Wednesday, December 22nd. The student council called down students from each grade to the main office to check out their sweaters and take pictures. Student council members then decided which two studentsa boy and a girlfrom each grade had the best ugly sweaters. The council members then walked around to the classrooms to see the teachers’ ugly sweaters and voted for one winning teacher for each grade.

By lunchtime, Principal Rina Beach and Student Council Advisor Mrs. Jennifer Talenti announced the winners, who then received Beach Bucks prizes to be used at the school store. The teachers who won received gift cards for Target and Dunkin Donuts.
